My FIRST Key

Supported Living Program

Connecting the dots for people with intellectual disabilities living in their own homes.

My FIRST Key is our Supported Living Program, which evolved from the desire to provide a safe and healthy residential environment with flexible, accessible, and self-directed support for those with disabilities. This program creates enhanced independence and well-being opportunities in and out of the home. Our team of direct support professionals fulfills this mission by facilitating quality services through their collective talents so they can make a difference every day.

We believe in a team approach to realizing the potential for independence in every keyholder. Our direct support professionals, family members, friends, natural community supporters, and the keyholders themselves dream, communicate, and plan for this next step toward residential independence and self-determined choice.

My FIRST Key offers staff support for individuals to live in their own homes, but it is not a housing program. My FIRST Key is an Innovations Waiver Service, and FIRSTwnc owns no properties. Supported living looks different for everyone, and there is no typical model, but anyone can thrive with the proper planning and support team.

We are ready to hear your story, assess your priorities and concerns, and develop a plan that prepares everyone for success. For more information, contact My FIRST Key Supported Living Director Erin Lesher at 828-630-8082 ext. 802 or email erin@firstwnc.org.
