Debbie Luckett

Parent Navigator

Deborah Luckett is excited to be a Parent Advocate at F.I.R.S.T. She previously was the Compassionate Schools Grant Coordinator for Buncombe County Schools where she trained the K-6 school faculty on building trauma-sensitive skills. She organized the first (and second) BCS and Community Mindfulness in Schools Conference. She took on this role after 10 years of working as a school counselor at the elementary, middle and high school levels in North Carolina and Colorado. Her passion for sharing techniques to build resiliency skills in children stems from her daughter’s journey with dyslexia. She is currently the Treasurer for the North Carolina International Dyslexia Association. Her interests include walking, pilates and watching her daughter play soccer (who has committed to play at Furman! Go Dins!)
