Gaile Osborne

Community Navigator Project Director of CPRC

In 2014, Gaile was looking for answers in supporting her newly adopted children’s special needs. She was overwhelmed by how difficult it was to advocate for her own children and grew extremely frustrated with the difficult hurdles her family faced in getting help they desperately needed. At that time, she made the decision to focus on healing her newly adopted children and step away from working full time as a special education teacher. She contacted Janet, FIRST’s executive director, to learn how to navigate the system for services. Eventually, with FIRST’s support, Gaile’s children received the resources and support they needed. Gaile joined the FIRST team part-time!

Prior to joining FIRST in 2014, Gaile had 17 years’ experience as a special education teacher in the state of NC. Gaile has her masters in special education from UNC Greensboro and currently holds NC teaching certification in four areas. She lives in the Asheville area with her husband and two children. Gaile brings a unique perspective to the agency from being a parent of a child with special needs and also a former special educator.
