Lindy Monteleone

Lindy Lee Monteleone earned her MA Ed in School Counseling and Guidance from Western Carolina University in 2003 where her counseling career began with Jackson County Schools. She became a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in 2006 and her work transitioned to Buncombe County and the surrounding area. 

Lindy is trained in Theraplay© and EMDR and has extensive training in child-centered play therapy, evidenced-based practices for supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder via the UNC-Chapel Hill TEACCH program, and training in Circle of Security.

Lindy has put FIRSTwnc on the map as an internship site for clinical mental health and social work candidates with a mission to grow competency in early childhood and IDD mental health support. 

Additionally, Lindy provides consultative support to people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and their caregiver teams. She is a LCMHCA supervisor, and is active with local committees dedicated to advancing the IDD field, including an IDD Peer Mentor initiative.

Before working with FIRSTwnc, Lindy served as a Director of Care Coordination with Vaya Health, during which time she trained with NC START and NADD and was a presenter at NC TIDES. She also served as a MAHEC IDD Specialty Clinic board member, and has trained with Elevatus.

Lindy also loves time with her family, her animals, her garden, and all the beauty of WNC!
